Bretañal, es una comunidad herbacea que crece sobre terreno ligeramente ondulado, cambiando la fisonomia del bosque denso ublado. Esta especie corresponde a la familia Poaceae pero debido a su estado infertil, no se pudo identificar su especie.

: I don't think there's anything else we can do with this. Clearly it is Ecuador, but I can't find any relevant meaning of "bretaña" or "bretaño", or any connection between those words and Poaceae (or Gramineae). The name is a mystery.

In Peru, it seems like this zone would be just above the yunga. That's sometimes called the "Quechua zone".
What country are we talking about here?
Might this be "puna" containing hyacinth species?
