Spanish term

aparición de focos hipercaptantes

Spanish to English Science Medical: Health Care Discharge report
Yet more specific terms and acronyms... I clearly should take a leaf out of Neilmac's book. CONTEXT:

"Gammagrafía ósea: (31 julio 11): metástasis en la columna vertebral con focos hipercaptantes".

I've found several sites that translate this as "hypercaptating", but it strikes me as too literal a translation and is very rare on Google (100 hits approx.). I know that "hipercaptación" would be "increased take-up", but what would be the adjectival form? TIA.

Sorry, I made a mistake while copy-pasting. The latter part of the sentence should read "vertebral con aparición de focos hipercaptantes".

agree Filippe Vasconcellos de Freitas Guimarães : Absolutely (foci). I don't think you even need "aparición"... just "with foci of increased uptake" should do the trick!

Emergence of spotlight uptake

I think that the correct term for aparicion in this case would be EMERGENCE. focos hipercaptantes=Spotlight uptake

So in the end, I think that aparicion de focos hipercaptantes could be translated as the "emergence of spotlight uptake".
Peer comment(s):

neutral liz askew : never come across "spotlight uptake" in a bone scintigraphy report:)
