Hi, I'm going to be very careful about what I say here because I believe I could easily infringe the moderation rules - am going to need guidance, moderators please move to right place, etc.

Hi, I'm going to be very careful about what I say here because I believe I could easily infringe the moderation rules - am going to need guidance, moderators please move to right place, etc.

This relates to a link on another well-known and often accessed translation job site. There is a link in the menu bar to Edit Profile. It takes you to a completely different access page, and since going there and not understanding what was going on, I have something (I don't know what) that is running and using processing time on my machine. I am scanning etc. to clean/check. But I wanted to warn others and I don't know how. I don't think I'm allowed to mention the other site...

So - well - probably not very helpful, suggestions how to help/warn better welcome!

There seems to be some malware going around Jun 13, 2012

I don't know which other website is meant, and I am absolutely not registered anywhere else besides ProZ.com but my mailbox has been swamped by approximately 20 bizarre applications by apparent newbies during the last couple of days, offering exotic languages that my translation company most certainly doesn't handle and I am really ticked off because every applicant claims to have found "me" on "the" translation website, yet addresses me as sir.

The ProZ.com staff might be highly interested if there is stuff going around that might compromise security - IF and in case that this is related to the flood of applications that I receive to an email address that is NOT publicly listed and that is only known to ProZ.com, my clients and co-workers.

Hi folks Jun 13, 2012

Please contact me through my profile: I will be interested in obtaining copies of these messages from you to perform the check. I would need them to be forwarded (full email headers are necessary).

Thanks,
Natalia

P.S. We have the Safe computing forum for discussion of such things as malware, viruses etc., however, we need to check first into which category these messages fit. In the meantime, let this thread remain here.

Write that site. Jun 13, 2012

If the link is in another site and instead of "Edit Profile" it leads you to a different place, then you should warn the people in that other site, either by posting in ehe right forum there or submitting a suppoort ticket.

It may even be a bug they are not aware of.
