Looking for translating tool/machine

A person asked me for assistance in finding a suitable translation tool. She is going to work in a company located in a country whose language she doesn't speak. Now she is looking for some device or software or both which helps her communicate. Such a device must be able to process English, German and Finnish in all directions. Can anyone make recommendations in this regard?

if she just wants to have a vague idea what things mean. If she needs any serious documents translated, she may need alive translators--probably more than one.
