Another reason is that, for many of us, our income is dictated less by demand than by inclination.
Decimal notation (not a real issue, just for readability):
Less than 10,000 USD / 9,150 EUR -> 9 150 (or 9.150) EUR
Less than 0.044 USD / 0.04 EUR per word -> 0,04 EUR
Except we don't write numbers that in English, however much the ISO might want us to...
