A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

I think you'll just find this is archaic or regional legalese for 'le cas échéant', probably the best translation here would be 'where applicable'
But this IS only a guess, sorry!

Oh dear, now W/A is taking me to task for being too unconfident. I can\'t win! Before, I was accused by people of being arrogant and over-confident (mind you, THEY didn\'t agree with my answers...). So now I try to be more realistic and humble in my ratings.
It seems to me it is safest to err on the low side, and if many others check in to \'agree\', that indicates to Asker that the guess was perhaps a good one. I don\'t really like the idea of \"I\'m guessing\" --- in my case, I use it to mean \"I don\'t have specialist (or specific) knowledge here\"
I DO always try to explain my confidence rating in the body of my answer, so I hope that achieves what is after all the intended object: to help Asker decide.
All I can say is, when you see poor old beleaguered Dusty giving a humbly low confidence rating, please DO check in and \'agree\'!

Wouldn\'t it be useful if one was actually able to edit the \'confidence rating\', in the light of peer support? I don\'t think the system would be too susceptible to misuse, but would at least enable one to avoid embarrassment (reduction of excessively-optimistic confidence levels as well as increases...). It seems a trifling and peripheral matter to have to bother moderators with, so I don\'t usually do so.
Let\'s take this discussion to the \'Confidence rating\' forum where it perhaps more properly belongs?

: why do you say you are guessing? it's already in glossary, complete with the explanation you give: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/783823 imho,too low a confidence level is just as misleading as those who enter 5 for 100% guessing/here level 3 perhaps?

Whilst echoing W/A's comment about consulting the glossaries, I'd just like to note in passing that the existing glossary search facility leaves a lot to be desired, it's caught me out many times! I eagerly await more comprehensive searches...!
