This adhere's to the Chinese more, but is a little blunt in English:
The initial 2 to 3 months are the most critical. You don't want to risk a miscarriage.

Comment: "Thank you, everybody. I chose wherestip's answer because I need a more layman term. I think "miscarriage" fits my context best."

pregnancy discomforts / indisposition
Pregnancy is a time of both physical and emotional changes. Aside from the obvious changes in your body shape and the size of your uterus, shifts in hormonal levels and metabolism can contribute to various physical and emotional discomforts.
Although the pregnancy discomforts mentioned below are common, they are not experienced by all pregnant women and may not be a part of your pregnancy. It is important to remember:
------------------------------
I will name them here: frequent indisposition during pregnancy, pale complexion, spots and freckles, pains in the matrIx, frequent nightmares, blackness of ...

pregnancy complications
My understanding is that 胎氣 is the qi associated with pregnancy or perhaps even the qi of the embryo itself (sidenote: “embryo” if under approx. 10 weeks gestations and “fetus”after that). A literal translation would, therefore, be something like “don't disrupt the pregnancy qi or the embryo's qi.” The reason for doing so would be to avoid pregnancy complications, which would include miscarriage.
Just my two cents. Hope this helps.
