agree Anthony Green : perhaps "leaf litter dwelling" as this covers most forms of "silvicole" and the text would appear to be talking about very hot habitats and that might indicate more of a maquis or a woodland than a "forest"

Thank you Anthony - yes, good sugg., and I've added some links to this effect; perh. Verona could tell us where it's describing (P.S. Like terricolous, I'd never heard of sylvicolous either, but app. it exists too for rare usage!)
