French term

trous amorcés

French to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) bathroom fixtures
Another one from the WC/bathroom products catalogue:

"Lavabo percé pour robinet 1 trou + **2 trous amorcés**"

"Plan de toilette céramique autoportant, percé pour robinet 1 trou + **2 trous amorcés**"

It would appear, to me at least, that the 'percé pour robinet 1 trou' part relates to actual holes which have been made in the basin, etc. and that the 'trous amorcés' relate to something else altogether (i.e. not 'actual' holes). I don't, however, know what we would call such 'holes' (or lack thereof) in English.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Many TIA

Vicky

agree Tony M : Yes, that's exactly the right idea: holes that are started, but don't go right through, so they can easily be finished off only if they are actually needed.
