"viabilité et vivabilité du tissu d'exploitations"

1 i'm too worn out - i have no more creative juice to give today
2 i get 17,000 hits for "tissue d'exploitations" and, more importantly, 10,000 of those are for "tissu d'exploitations agricoles", yet only 3(!! when crossing that with 'english'...

Any and all help more than welcome - i think we are are looking for some special phraseology, with 'tissu' going beyond your regular 'social fabric'.

Anyhow, all input/ideas/support is more than welcome.

For the minute i'm running with "the farming community" until you help me out!

Cheers...

(viability of) farms and farming

Explanation:
Actually I think you could probably do something with your "farming community", but this is another possibility.

agricultural patterns, agricultural fabric

Explanation:
Don't you think this means "the size and/or geographical layout of farms"? I suppose it means that the remembrement of the - when, 1960s? - was but a first step and that more remains to be done to make farms more cost effective.

Much along the lines of "urban grain" (unfortunately "agricultural grain" seems to refer only to cereals!) and "urban fabric" ("agricultural fabric" mostly refers to bird nets, mulching membranes, etc.).

The dry valleys and gentle ridges have created a COMPLEX LANDUSE AND FARMING PATTERN, with predominantly larger fields arable found on the areas of higher ground, and a mosaic of small and medium field sizes located within the valleys. The larger arable fields lack hedgerows, but groupings of these fields are often enclosed by shelter belts, creating large uncomplicated open areas, as seen around the centre of this Landscape Character Area.
