English term or phrase: trace greenhouse gases
Hi, I am having a translation problem with the compound noun ''trace geenhouse gases'', I have to translate the adjective ''trace'' from English into Italian.

The context refers to biofuels, the field is related to greenhouse gases, the sentence comes from an article, here it is : If the amounts of CO2 and other trace greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are increased, more heat will be trapped.

I translated the adjective like this ''residui''

Thanks in advance

gas traccia/ gas effetto serra

Explanation:
There are some gases (CO2, methan, nitrogen, water steam and others) which in Italian in scientific textes are defined as GAS TRACCIA. I would not use the expression "tracce/residui di gas serra" otherwise in the source language it should be written "greenhouse gases traces" or better "traces of greenhouse gases".

Example sentence(s):
  • Meno dell’1% dell’atmosfera sono poi cosiddetti “gas traccia”, per lo più prodotti da attività umane
