German term

Türüberführung

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Ticket Vending Machine
"Halter Türüberführung und ABC-3D-E-Kette Anschlusselement

"1Stk. ABC-3D-E-Kette Anschlusselement mit

2Stk. L-Schr In-6rd M5x12 INOX A4

direkt auf die Büchsen der Tür montieren.

Hinweis:
Nur mit 120Ncm anziehen!

"1Stk. ABC-3D-E-Kette Anschlusselement mit

2Stk. L-Schr In-6rd M5x16 INOX A4

auf den

1Stk. Halter Türüberführung anschrauben

und danach der vormontierte Halter in den Gehäusekasten mit

2Stk. L-Schr In-6rd mit U-Sch M5x12

anschrauben"

From an assembly instruction manual for a ticket vending machine. This is one of the parts of said machine. (Fortunately, I've been provided with a list of abbreviations, so at least don't have to ask about L-Schr In-6rd or U-Sch! If it's of help to anyone though, the former stands for Linsenschraube Innensechsrund, while the latter is Unterlegscheibe.)

I can't make head or tail of "Türüberführung". Well, the Tür part of the word is straightforward enough, of course, but Überführung doesn't make any sense to me here. No dictionary has heard of Türüberführung - not even Linguee has any offerings for this one! Überführung has a multitude of meanings (like bridge, flyover, overpass, transfer and suchlike), but none of them work in relation to a door. TIA for any light you can shed on this extremely baffling and confusing word.

Glad I could help By the way, if you google for "Tür-Überführung" with a hyphen and select German language, you get over 400 hits, most of which seem to refer to the cable duct from my previous link.

Info from Client You might be on to something, Gudrun, because I have now got this info from the client:

"Türüberführung should be something like a cable channel to conduct the cables around or over the door."
Gudrun Maydorn (X) Feb 15, 2012:
Is E-Kette Elektrokette? In that case the Türüberführung could be a cable duct or conduit.

I think they're internal, but I'm not sure. "Door connecting strip" might work.
David Moore (X) Feb 15, 2012:
The doors: are they external, internal, or one of each? Would "door connecting strip" fit?
Rowan Morrell (asker) Feb 15, 2012:
Further information From a couple of pictures in the text, it appears that the Türüberführung is a kind of plank that connects two doors on the vending machine (or maybe two parts of the same door? I can't tell). The Halter (which I THINK is a bracket here) is then attached to this plank. But the plank does look vaguely like a "bridge". It still seems extremely weird to me to call it a "door bridge", though.
Michael Harris Feb 15, 2012:
Any idea what the part is for?

door bypass

If this is a kind of cable channel, it could be be simply a bypass to
assure accessability to other components behind the door, etc.
