philgoddard Jun 19, 2012:
Yes, that's what it means, so "class" is not appropriate here.
Jessica Noyes Jun 19, 2012:
To me as a US-dwelling Canadian, "class of" means the year of graduation from high school or college which in Spanish is often "promoción de."
philgoddard Jun 19, 2012:
They were born between 1953 and 1959.

Sí sé lo que significa en español lo que no sé es cómo se hace referencia a este tipo de clasificación en los países de habla inglesa
philgoddard Jun 19, 2012:
Have you tried Googling it? it gets lots of hits, including this one, which explains the significance of 53 to 59:

Es en Argentina. Y lamentablemente no poseo más contexto. Sólo debo traducir este título. La dificultad que me genera es que no sé como traducir lo de "clases 53 a 59" porque no se qué termino utilizar para ello
Lisa McCarthy Jun 19, 2012:
Hola ¿Puedes darnos más context, por favor? De qué se trata, de qué pais?

'Clases' could be 'types' here.
Peer comment(s):

agree patinba : "from classes" is fine - it refers to those born in that period

neutral philgoddard : This is a literal translation, but it doesn't explain the meaning.

former conscripts born between the years 1953 and 1959

If you Google "former conscripts" you get a lot of hits like this one, and I am using Phil's link for the "clases" part.
