Swedish term

bevakningsdatum

Swedish to English Law/Patents Law (general) court forms
Relevant example from Google:
Namn på nästa bevakningsdatum i ärendet.
I've seen follow-up date and watch date (the latter might be software terminology), but does anyone know which term is actually used by courts?
TIA

Discussion

Helen Johnson (asker) Mar 7, 2013:
Must admit that I did actually use Follow-up date in the end. I didn't realise that it could refer to so many things. I think the meat of the main text was the most important thing in my particular job luckily - honestly thought that this term would be the same for any type of case but obviously not. I may leave this one for the community to decide.
Norskpro Mar 7, 2013:
@Tom Thumb The term is already mentioned by bjornbear. My reasons are mentioned in an earlier post (11.26, 6 mar).
Adrian MM. (X) Mar 6, 2013:
Follow-up date @ Norskpro: maybe you can post your suggestion as an answer, citing chapter and verse, namely the UK or US authorities for such a term.
Norskpro Mar 6, 2013:
I think follow-up date is a good term for bevakningsdatum.
Cynthia Coan Mar 6, 2013:
Dealing with a deadline To me the source text term does suggest some kind of deadline is coming up -- i.e., more literally, the date to watch for.
Norskpro Mar 6, 2013:
Execution date does not have good ring to it here.
SafeTex Mar 6, 2013:
Confirm I agree with Norskspo and this is why I said in my suggestion that the exact phrase to chose depends largely on what the next step is
'Execution date' of the previous decision/court order is probably ok to cover most eventualities as we don't have more info
Norskpro Mar 6, 2013:
I believe 'bevakningsdatum' is the date by which the next step in a case should take place. On the date in question what further steps to take will be clear, and this may f.ex. depend on whether there has been an appeal.
Helen Johnson (asker) Mar 6, 2013:
The only title is "Dagbok Utskriftsdatum", showing case group (50) and case type (99). Dealt with by Organisatorisk enhet 41 at Stockholm Tingsrätt.
Adrian MM. (X) Mar 5, 2013:
context - civil or criminal so, without giving the names of the parties away, what's the title of the court form(s)? A bribery case might have civil recovery or criminal confiscation ramifications. We can't help you if you are withholding key-info.
Helen Johnson (asker) Mar 5, 2013:
No, a bribery case
Can you specify whether or not this relates to a bankruptcy/insolvency matter? 'Bevakning' has a specific meaning in that context. However, if not a bankruptcy case, the meaning could be more general, e.g. 'date by which a certain action should be reviewed/verified'.
Norskpro Mar 5, 2013:
I am referring to 'bevakning'.
Norskpro Mar 5, 2013:
I looked in my dictionaries, Sw-No and No-En and from what I can gather it means judgment, assessment, deliberation, consideration. Hope this is a help.

follow-up date

The term, as it is used in Swedish, is a general term, not specific to certain types of cases, so the English term should reflect this.

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I'll go with this since it headed a column referring to various decisions made on different dates in a court diary. Thanks for your comments everyone"

date by/on which a decision comes into effect/execution date

The exact terminology depends on the decision.

My point is that I haven't been able to come up with a noun as in Swedish but rather a whole series of phrases comes to mind for you to chose from
Peer comment(s):

neutral Cynthia Coan : Date decision goes into effect vs. execution date don't have identical meanings; the former implies the way is clear to start implementing the decision, whereas in the latter scenario the action (carrying out the decision) is completed on the key date.

case management (disposal) date

- based on the asker's extra info.

A CMC: case management conference in the UK and US . in court with both sides - would help track the progress of a case.

Otherwise, in insolvency, coudl be the date for lodging a proof of debt or also a probate (Scots: confirmation of Will) date cf. Gullberg's dictionary entries.

Disposal date is ambiguous for disposal of property, so maybe prefix with case.

Note, in E&W, a notice of disposal is a process for applying to pay off a judgment debt by instalments.
