Mi duda es esta: ¿es necesario traducir "computer"? ¿Qué otro tipo de software hay, que no sea para computadoras?
En el texto en cuestión, aparece muchísimo y en español queda muy cargado... pero no sé si hago bien en omitirlo.

Explanation:
Hoy en día cualquier electrodoméstico, los coches, los aviones... no sé; cualquier aparato lleva algo de software... aunque sea integrado en un chip. Es verdad que la traducción puede quedar muy recargada y seguramente se podrá prescindir de "ordenador", pero creo que vale la pena tener en cuenta lo que digo. Igual en el original está así por algo.

Yo diria que se puede dejar "software" solo si el contexto te lo permite, y habiendo mencionado el termino completo en algun otro lugar del texto.
