Italian term

mira reticolare/cilindri crociati

Italian to English Medical Medical: Instruments optical instruments for eye tests
A list of tests a machine can perform, including astigmatism, sensitivity to contrast, Ishihara etc.
One of the tests is 'mira reticolare'.
What is 'mira'?
I assume it is some kind of instrument (a target?) because it is also repeated in 'mira cilindri crociati'

TIA

Kreonia (asker) Oct 15, 2015:
thanks for your help Liz - I thought that adding the second 'mira' would help but it may actually be confusing.
mira reticolare and mira cilindri crociati appear as two separate functions on this machine, which is why I thought 'mira' must be the name of an instrument (that was why I only posted one question). I do have the brochure with the translation the customer has already used (sent via an agency I work for), but 'mira reticular' and 'mira cross cylinders' really doesn't sound right to me.
