@ DIV1 release plants are literally "freigesetzte Pflanzen". This can mean put out of the pot, growing wild or even distributed over an area. I assume that Vkrauch may know what the correct interpretation is. She explained it by "Es geht im Text um eine neue Dachdämmung aus Schaumglas für ein Gebäude. Von irgendwelchen anderen Anlagen ist nicht die Rede; ich glaube, es sind dann tatsächlich Pflanzen gemeint, wie Renate vorschlägt", see my Discussion entry on July 4.

I can only guess that the plants are planted onto the roof isolation of foam glass, playing with lights and shadows. I also suppose that the translation has already been delivered, and the asker forgot to close the question in the meantime.

Source text critique I agree with Teresa Reinhardt that the source text does not read naturally. I mark the odd portions in bold:
"The creation of large steel frames brought the character and identity to the volume, breaking its monotony with a play of light and shadows and released plants allowing the desired flexibility."

Here is an amended version:
"The installation of large steel frames brought character and identity to the space, breaking its monotony with the interplay of light and shadow and ??? plants, allowing the desired flexibility."
or
"The installation of large steel frames brought character and identity to the space, breaking its monotony, with the interplay of light and shadow and ??? plants allowing the desired flexibility."

Released plants I found two options online:

1. plants that have come onto the market (just as a company 'releases' a product);

This almost always occurs in the phrase "newly released".

2. plants that had been grown in pots (or were otherwise captive), but which have since been removed from those pots (etc.).

I presume that in the present case "released" means that the plants are not in pots.

Alternatively, it might mean that they're planted in a 'wild' unconstrained manner (a 'natural' style rather than a 'manicured' style).

@ vkrauch Kann das zutreffen, dass es sich um eine Bepflanzung handelt? Dann würde ich mich fragen, warum die Pflanzen "freigelassen" werden, als ob es sich um Wildtiere handelt.

Plant kann aber auch viele andere Bedeutungen haben, von einem Gerät bis zu einer Anlage oder Werk. Welche tenischen Vorrichtungen könnten dafür in Betracht kommen? Gibt es darauf irgendwelche Hinweise im restlichen Text?
