Rather than describing the water collection function of the water, the English term focuses on the fact that it is being pumped away from the reservoir for treatment. Given the context, the "water" could be omitted, hence the brackets.

intake tower

Looking at this website, it looks as if your particular reservoir tower is called an intake tower.

neutral Stuart Robertson : Potentially... But as your reference states, only if connected to a hydroelectric power station. For a drinking water reservoir (which is the case here), the correct term would be an outlet tower
