This an area of general interest for me, not a speciality, but I hope this will help. An acoustic wave is generated by a recording, and when converted for an MP3 player (I am guessing here), it degenerates. Therefore there is a device in the MP3 player to regenerate it, or perhaps to boost it, actuated by the switch for which this is the instruction.
"Wave" here is almost sure to stand for "acoustic wave", and if you google for "acoustic wave" and "akustische Welle", you will be able to browse all day if you want. Have a look at one or two of the "Bose" sites in both langauges.
