Romanzo inglese di inizio novecento..
Si è a cena, e il domestico versa lo champagne. Il signore è soddisfatto, lo guarda mentre glielo versa lentamente nel calice e poi lo beve fino all’ultima goccia. Un nettare! Dice, e freddo al punto giusto,
E il domestico gli dice:
“I frapped it the least bit, sir.”
Non riesco a capire cosa significhi, ne ha rovesciato qualche goccia? Cosa significa “frap” qui?

Tratto da un volumetto bilingue (tedesco e inglese) del 1946 sui cocktail.
Anche se non riferibile all'epoca del testo in oggetto (Regency?), l'estratto chiarisce bene l'operazione.
'We must therefore bear in mind to serve champagne and sack coldest. Their temperatures should be between 5 and 7 centigrades, one degree more or less won't lay any odds. In order to reach that temperature within a short time it will be recommended to "frap" champagne in the ice-bucket, i. e. to twist the bottle until the bucket is found
to cover itself with ice. This will take some eight or ten minutes.'
