The JRC’s independence of special interests, whether private or national, combined with its technical expertise enable it to facilitate communication and consensus building between stakeholders (industry associations, environmental action groups, Member States’ competent authorities, other research centres etc.) and policy makers, especially at the EU level. Through scientific and technological support the JRC helps to make the EU policy process more effective, transparent and based on sound science.

A independência do CCI relativamente a interesses especiais, quer privados quer nacionais, combinada com a sua especialização técnica permite-lhe facilitar a comunicação e criação de consensos entre partes interessadas (associação industriais, grupos de acção ambiental, autoridades competentes dos Estados-Membros, outros centros de investigação, etc.) e decisores políticos, especialmente a nível da UE. Através de apoio científico e tecnológico, o CCI contribui para que o processo político da UE seja mais eficaz, transparente e baseado em dados científicos sólidos.
