Amateur (Weightlifting Society)

English to Russian Art/Literary History need back-translation
I have a translation from Spanish into English regarding a club founded by Dr. Vladislav Krayevsky in 1885. My Spanish original gives me "Club de los Amantes del Atletismo", whilst Wikipedia and other references on Dr. Krayevsky identify this association as the "St. Petersburg Amateur Weightlifting Society". Since the Spanish texts were done from Russian by a Russian native, I would like to know the original Russian name and as well if there is any false friend between Russian and Spanish (as between French and Spanish) that would lead to the mistranslation of "Amateur" (Sp. "aficionado") as "amante". (This is for footnoting purposes, please bear with me if I ask for answers in English or Spanish).

Hi Natalie Thanks, I found that also and it's already footnoted. However, we have the text from a Russian source in the context of life in 19th century St. Petersburg (Krayevsky's role in it is incidental) and are using two systems of orthography (Spanish and English). It's for a Russian photograph exhibit to be shown here in Spain under inter-government arrangement.

Hi Ceci, Krayevski was Polish-born, so in case you are doing footnoting, it would be appropriate to provide (at least in parentheses) the Polish spelling of his name, Władysław Krajewski.

Parece ser que necesita explicación en español/ inglés, perdón, no me ha dado cuenta desde principio. La palabra rusa "liubitel" es equivalente a "amateur" como bien dice en español "aficionado". Por lo que no cabe duda, la palabra correcta en inglés - "amateur".
