Godfather's (Grandfather's) clothes

As far I can see they mean something too old and almost useless. In that case, you might translate it as дедушкины вещи, бабушкин сунлук, even тряпки (барахло) с чердака.

Речь однозначно идет о grandfather (grandfathering) clause, и я пока тоже не нашла ничего лучшего, чем указанный мной выше вариант.
