Sí, como dice Michael, parece ser que se usan ambos términos indistintamente en muchas ocasiones.
Aun así:
"Existen varias formas de proveer agua de irrigación a un cultivo: sistemas de irrigación y subirrigación de aspersor elevado (overhead sprinkler), riego a mano (hand-watering), goteo (drip) o chorrito (trickle)."

gotear / caer gotas vs. salir un hilo de agua / goteo
There is definitely some overlap; however, in a way there are different, since "tickle" implies a small stream or water, whereas "to drip" or "dripping" "implies gotear" or "caer gotas" or "goteo" of individual consecutive drops. "trickle" can be the same as "dripping", but it can also be a constant slow small stream of water.
