En el inglés estadounidense se habla a veces de un síntoma o signo clínico ausente e indicio de un padecimiento (pertinent negative). También puede ser un síntoma o signo que el paciente presenta (pertinent positive).
Contexto:
"A review of systems in the end is an effort to coordinate all the information that you have received during the interview. It is a time to check out pertinent negatives. A pertinent negative is a symptom that a patient has not reported that might support one of your diagnostic hypotheses if it was present."
