Ledger es el equivalente al tamaño A3 (16.55 x 11.70, en comparación con 11\" x 17\"), también llamado tabloide o doble carta, mientras que el Legal es el equivalente al B4 (13.92 x 9.843, en comparación con 8 1/2\" x 14\").
Trabajo en Canon como traductora de documentación referente a impresoras, copiadoras y demás, así que tengo que ver con esto todo el tiempo :)

A Ledger se le llama doble carta porque es dos veces el tamaño Carta (8 1/2\" x 11\", mientras que el Ledger es 11\" x 17\").

tabloide / legal / oficio (11 x 17)
En Colombia decimos papel oficio o tamaño oficio, pero es lo mismo que el llamado tamaño legal o tabloide. Según entiendo, se habla de legal u oficio para orientación vertical (portrait), y tabloide si la orientación es horizontal (lanscape). ¡Suerte!
