I assume it's a lock on the gate of a building?

There will be some sort of electronic control on the gate. You have a plastic fob (a little plastic item about the size of a key), you press it against the control and the gate opens.

agree Katalin Horváth McClure : I think they meant to write "1 additional access device". They probably use the text over and over and just replace the number of devices, depending on how many they provide - hence the incorrect plural.
