application of chemical_heat/industrially washing and removing sizing to soften garment Explanation: Apparel standards are changing...sometimes the fabric is "pre-cured" at the mill. other times it is "post-cured" after the manufacturing process. Application of heat (usually 140° C and above), on fabrics which have been treated with resin-forming or other chemicals, or of synthetic fabrics alone, to impart properties such as crease-retention, water-repellency, wrinkle resistance, dimensional stability and durable press. Heat treatment for several minutes is usual, but higher temperatures for short times (flash-curing) and long times at low temperatures and higher regain (moist curing) are also used. If properly cured, the fabric has qualities that are durable through many washings and dry cleanings. http://www.resil.com/c.htm -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2006-05-29 19:36:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Curing+ application of chemical & heat. For example, garments are hung and passed through an "oven" for permanent-press process. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2006-05-29 19:37:34 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- garment wash - process of industrially washing garments after they have been manufactured to remove sizing; it also softens and pre-shrinks the fabric. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2006-05-29 20:02:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Here's a short article/explanation explaining "wrinkle-free" curing methods: pre-cure; post-cure; garment-dip; spray (metered) application; and Vapour phase. http://apparel.indiamart.com/lib/manufacturing/wrinkle110219... |
