English term

Night guard

Non-PRO English to Greek Other
The Nyctophylax or "Night guard" in Ancient Greece was a soldier who guarded a military camp at night. I'm sure the word is a little different in Modern Greek.
Please give your answer in Roman letters. I can read Greek letters but they appear as Adobe characters on the Kudoz website.
Thanks for all your help. Really appreciate it!
Sincerely,
Brian Costello

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com (asker) Nov 12, 2003:
translations Thanks to all of you! This is another example of where modern Greek is still closer in some respects to Ancient Greek than Italian is to Latin. Comapre Latin Vigil (Nightwatchman: Night Guard) to Italian, Guardia notturne.
