You should be aware that all aviation policies currently bear a date recognition exclusion clause AVN2000. The CAA understands this has the effect of removing insurance cover in the event of an accident if it is attributable to difficulties associated with date recognition issues. A writeback endorsement is available subject (among other things) to the satisfactory completion of an
aerospace date recognition conformity questionnaire. If insurers are satisfied
on the steps an operator has undertaken to achieve compliance, the policy
concerned is endorsed AVN2001 to reflect that the appropriate insurance
cover has been reinstated. The CAA will not be able to grant an Operating
Licence where the aviation insurance bears the exclusion clause AVN2000
but which has not also been endorsed with the write-back clause AVN2001.
