Recycling plastics (PET bottles)
Etape 1: transformation des balles de bouteilles PET en paillettes PET, par opération de tri, lavage, broyage. (« ligne de lavage bouteilles PET)
Capacité de lavage :140 KT en France.
My initial thought on this was, simply, 'PET balls' - but I am not convinced that this term is appropriate in English in this context - if you google it you end up with a nice toy for your dog or cat or extremely advanced goldfish! I also tried googling PET beads - but did not have much more luck there. I even tried writing PET out in full, Polyethelene Terephtalate....followed by each term, but no luck there either.
These 'balles' can't be the same as the 'granules' (I imagine the 'balles' are much larger in size...
Can anyone help me to find the right term? I even have a picture of one, which looks like a large clump of bits of plastic (PET) - but it is impossible to determine the scale of it from the picture!
I am sure someone will know - thanks in advance for any help.

: Seems extremely likely; they get sort of 'squashed' all together

: Very likely. I used to translate stuff for an exporter of used clothes to Africa. This stuff was packed into "balles / bales". I should imagine this is the same sort of thing.
