I know this has been asked before, but I need to be a little bit more creative with this sentence, I think.
The sentence comes from a website, the relevant section talks about how the company started out small. It's referring to how the two owners of the company
"Beide halten nicht nur ihr Ohr am Puls der Zeit, sondern setzen vor allem wichtige unterstützende Impulse für die Verkaufsstrategien des Handels".
Everything I come out with sounds awkward. I think the gist means that they play an important role in shaping sales strategies, or is that moving away too much?

"Impuls" has connotations sim. to "Schubkraft" (in phys.) or "jolt" (elec.). Anything that suggests a push would work, imo.
