In the washers, the flue gases are cooled and desulfurized with a limestone suspension. As a result, this area is liable to considerable wear from fluids which still contain abrasive solids. In addition, temperatures range between 130°C and 180°C at the gas intake point. The washing suspension is fed through pipelines to the jets. The pipelines are subjected to both chemical strain as well as abrasion.
