German term

Altefieren

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial Anodising aluminium
I am translating a document for a customer that specialises in the above. They are also involved in other techniques, such as hard anodising, but it appears that there are very few companies offering this and none have English websites! I have seen a LEO entry where it talks about "age hardening" but other than that there is not much on the Internet. Does anyone have any ideas

Yes, very strange. Thanks for your help on this. It is also difficult to get an idea of the end result of the coating to know how else you could translate it.
Bernd Runge Oct 7, 2011:
Whatever - best of luck then.
As you might have recognized the term altefieren is almost exclusively used on .ch- and Altefco-sites and is by no means wide spread or very common.
MScholey (asker) Oct 7, 2011:
I have found at least 3-4 companies that use this term. Whilst ALTEF coating could be used for company selling the brand ALTEF, there must be another English term as the other companies would not be allowed to use this brand name

Thanks, JC. Been there, too - didn't buy the t-shirt, though ;-) Enjoy the weekend.
