I understand exactly what is mean but am looking for the best way to put it without being long-winded.

Die Bearbeitungspraxis innerhalb der Bank hat in den vergangenen Jahren gezeigt, dass die Ausfallsetzung und –aufhebung dann passiert, wenn die Gründe für den Ausfall entfallen sind.

So it's about debts. In that case the sentence doesn't quite make sense, though I think I can see what they're trying to say. Debts are written off, and written back if the reason for the writeoff no longer applies.

Ausfall is default - I see Ausfallsetzung und -erhebung as setting and cancelling/revocation. What I am looking for is a 'snappy' way of putting 'the setting and cancellation of defaults', if there is such a way.

You say you can understand it - if so, could you explain it, and give us the sentences before and after it? I understand that this is financial stress testing, but what exactly does Ausfall mean? Is it failure? If so, what is failing?
