Discussion

rietmann (asker) Jul 26, 2007:
BrigitteHilgner Jul 26, 2007:
Bitte Frage präzisieren: Trauformel auf dem Standesamt? In der römisch- katholischen, evangelisch-lutherischen, uws. Kirche oder was? Es bestehen da einige Unterschiede.

I would go with this term, whether marrying in court or in a church

thank you, Camilla
neutral Marcus Geibel : I feel rietmann is looking for the wording, not for a translation of the term "Trauformel", see Camilla's answer ;-)

marriage ceremony s.u.

As a suggestion you could possibly find the text in the Anglican Prayer Book - this should be on the Internet. Some websites provide both the English and German version of Bible quotations - so they might also have the prayer book in several languages. This website has a verbatim of the ceremony itself. http://www.pemberley.com/janeinfo/compraym.html
The interesting thing about marriage in the Anglican Church (I am Anglican) is that the legal as well as the Church wedding takes place at the same time. You will see from the website. I hope this helps you.

I think I misunderstood your question!!! Sorry - I thought you needed the WHOLE ceremony to be translated. Wedding vows is of course perfectly correct.
Peer comment(s):

agree Katja Schoone : no, I think you are perfectly right. The German wording suggests that he/she is looking for the whole thing ;-)

agree Marcus Geibel : s.th. like "to have and to hold..." ;-)
