"Erste Versuche zur Herstellung vollkeramischen Zahnersatzes gehen auf Fauchard zurück, der im 18. Jahrhundert zum ersten Mal Totalprothesen aus Geschirrporzellan brannte."
From a general text about dental porcelains and ceramics.
Is there a specific term for GESCHIRRporzellan in English? Obviously, it's porcelain that's also used for crockery and so forth. But I just don't know what the exact English term for this would be. TIA for your help.

fine grade porcelain (tableware quality porcelain)
Geschirr- possibly implies a fine grade porcelain, distinct from e.g. sanitary porcelain

Comment: "I was never that happy with either "porcelain" or "china" on their own, given the compound word in German. I think what's meant is in fact the type of porcelain used to make tableware, so "fine grade porcelain" should work quite well. I don't think M. Fauchard was smashing plates or whatever to get material for his dentures; he was just using the same kind of porcelain that kitchenware and tableware are made of. Still, it's not that easy to get across neatly in English, especially when the German word isn't that common. Thanks for this handy solution (of fine grade porcelain), Mario, but thanks also to David and Eva for their efforts."
