These are terms we used regularly for such actions when I was in nuclear power plant operation.

IMHO maintenance flushing or flush works, as does purging with a wash suspension.

I tend to agree with neutral comments. In this context, as Kevin rightly ponted out, the pumps circulate the wash. As far as I understand it, the system is then flushed (or not as the case may be) to remove contamination. The washing suspension performs another task here - to remove the sulphur from the flue gas.
