German term

Aufschneidehilfe

German to English Medical Applying Plaster Casts
This word appears a lot in the plaster cast text I'm currently doing. Just one example of many:

"Aufschneidehilfe an der Ferse aus dem Frotteeschlauch ausführen"

Up to now, I've been calling it "cutting aid". But I'd like to make sure that this is the correct term, or whether I should be using a different expression. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I have decided to stick with "cutting aid". "Cut open aid" is not especially good English (sorry Mats). Janine's answer was interesting, however the text says that one of the benefits about the cast they're talking about is that saws are not necessary. So I decided it couldn't be referring to that. I guess it must be some sort of device to aid cutting the tubing open or something like that. So, "cutting aid" will probably just have to do. Thank you both for your assistance."

cast saw

a cast saw is normally used to cut through casts.
Would this fit here ? and generally in your text ?

removal aid

Obviously the Aufschneidehilfe is used to eventually easily remove the cast. this must be something that is inserted while applying the cast so that it can be removed later in an easy fashion.
