Spennnadelknopf

German to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
.. eine Warze so groß wie ein Spennnadelknopf

This is from a text written in 1805 so it is an old tool - some kind of needle ?
It definitely says Knopf and not Kopf which would make more sense - like a pinhead
Any suggestions of a suitable equivalent welcome!

Research problem caused by Rechtschreibereform If you ever come across such a triple-consonant term again, just remember that before the German "Rechtschreibereform", this would have been spelt "Spennadel" (with only two ns). There's a number of references for "Spennadel = Stecknadel" on the Web, etymology included. :-)

Typo Since Spennadel is Stecknadel (pin), Knopf must be a typo which should read ~kopf. So, pinhead-sized wart.
