German term

Nl-Ca Geräte

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Akkus

Discussion

Harry Borsje Jun 28, 2007:
NiCd - probably an OCR error (although there are many examples on the web of people who seem to conclude that cadmium should be abbreviated to Ca)
Michael Harris Jun 28, 2007:
I think it should be Ni-Ca because there are no hits with NI-Ca. Has the document been transformed from another programme?

It's nickel-cadmium (batteries) - just as your previous instance - the Germans use both abbreviations. I imagine there is more than one author involved.

Makes sense, because this is used in consumer language, not just technical - and "NiCd"cannot be pronounced.
