German term

Gasdämpfer

German to English Tech/Engineering
Sorry not much context to go on so I know you can only guess.
A farmer has written about his tractor:
Gasdämpfer Heckscheibe defekt - wurden ausgetauscht.
I know that 'Heckscheibe' is rear window but do not know how to translate 'Gasdämpfer'. I wonder whether 'Gasdämpfer' is plural and part of the rear window or whether the author means that both the 'Gasdämpfer' and rear window were replaced and are not at all connected. Hope I haven't confused you too much.

pneumatic (gas charged) rear window struts

It is conceivable that the two could be connected, and that the writer is referring to pneumatic (or gas charged) struts which assist in opening the rear window, and hold the window in the up position when it is opened, similar to tailgate struts on minivans.
If that were the case, then the writer may have replaced only the struts and not the rear window.

gas shock [absorber]

In a car (and also in fancy mountain bikes), a Gasdämpfer is a
gas shock or gas shock absorber [cf. Schmitt, FWB Kfz-Technik].
Without further context, I would imagine that it is the same in a tractor.

And no, the Gasdämpfer is not part of the rear window; since 2 items were listed (Heckscheibe and Gasdämpfer), the verb form had to be plural. BTW, Gasdämpfer is the same in either the singular or the plural.

I also found one reference in the Web that you might find useful:
