Italian term
asse femoro-popliteo
Italian to English
Medical
Medical (general)
vascular anatomy - lower extremities
This is in a report of an echo-doppler examination of a patient with diabetes.
ECODOPPLER ARTI INFERIORI: *Asse femoro-popliteo* Sx pervio con multiple placche calcifiche che interessano la SFA."
I could just translate this as "femoro-popliteal axis" but I'm not convinced that this is correct English usage. I find only around 1,000+ google hits for this, but the first few references are translations from French, or were written in Italy or Germany.
Is "femoro-popliteal axis" correct in English medical writing, or is there something more standard for this Italian expression?
Thanks for your help.

femoral-popliteal axis
Low conf. because am not a doctor etc., but e.g. found this:
In 2005, interventional radiologists believed that the opportunity for DEBs in PAD was greatest in the femoral popliteal axis. However, with high unmet needs in below knee applications and the existence of diffuse disease, DEBs could drive the markets in treating these more distal vessels.

Femoral popliteal (also called femoropopliteal) bypass surgery...

Discussion
" Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is caused by artherosclerotic occlusion of leg arteries, primarily in the femoropopliteal system. "
" In the femoropopliteal system, PTA of stenoses and occlusions up to 10 cm in length has resulted in patency rates of 53% and 88% at 3 and 5 years"
Found enough examples like these to convince me to use this.
Thanks for your suggestions.
