I'm sorry Carla, but I don't think it's "atrapalhado". I have a bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality, and for me the phrase sounds perfectly ok..

Carla, that's all the context there is. It's set apart from the rest of the text, which is a long discourse on SP tourism.

As we can see, "turismo receptivo" is more than just "receiving tourists" in the city; it includes receiving them, preparing tours for them, providing airport services, accomodation, etc. So, I think "prestigie o receptivo local" really talks about this.

Thanks, Sofia. At first I thought it might refer to depositing trash, because everyone here seemed to think so, and because it followed that list of recycling tips, but you're right...we don't use "receptor" for that in Brazil. Also, check this out: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1953310

And, you're right Amy: "turismo receptivo" is used when "receiving tourists" (while "turismo emissivo" when "sending tourists"). "Turismo receptivo"is very common in SP.

Well, we don't use 'receptivo' neither "receptor" for trash bin in Brazil. Besides, "prestigiar" means "valorizar, participar". So, for me, it makes sense to ask someone to "prestigiar o turismo local (que recebe turistas)"

Sofia's answer has thrown me for a loop....and I think she may be right. I've heard "receptivo" used before in the sense of "receiving tourists." Also, I think to be a garbage bin, it would be "receptor" rather than "receptivo," am I right? Any comments about this? Anyone rethinking their answers? Or not?

Sugiro a opção acima ou ainda:

ou até:

"encourage local sustainable tourism" (mais interpretativo)

Or, this is more of an interpretation than a direct translation but it is the same idea:
Don't be a litterbug, use the trash can.

In view of Aurélio, how about "Let's look after the environment" or "look after the environment." The "E word" is so tired sounding, but what else to use?
