Russian to English Medical Medical (general) PEDIATRIC ACHALASIA
Hello!

A slipped Nissen fundoplication may be the result of a technical error in which the fundoplication is incorrectly placed over the stomach or may be due to slippage of the stomach up through an intact wrap. A tight wrap occurs because of poor surgical technique or the misdiagnosis of achalasia. A **tight fundoplication** is usually caused by surgical inexperience. A **tight wrap** must be taken down.

In "gas bloat syndrome", patients report being unable to belch, leading to an accumulation of gas in the stomach or small intestine. This is said to occur in 2-5% of patients, depending on surgical technique, and is commonly believed to be related to the **tightness of the "wrap"**

В предыдущей ссылке, чуть ниже процитированного текста, есть такая фраза: "If gas bloat syndrome occurs postoperatively and does not resolve with time, dietary restrictions, and counselling regarding aerophagia, it may be beneficial to consider treating the condition with an **endoscopic balloon dilatation**"

What is the Nissen Fundoplication?
...
The "fundus" (hence the term fundoplication) of the stomach (top portion of the stomach) is **wrapped** around the back of the esophagus until it is once again in front. The portion of the fundus that is now on the right side of the esophagus is sutured to the portion on the left side to keep the **wrap** in place. When completed, the fundoplication resembles a buttoned shirt collar. The collar is the **fundus wrap** and the neck represents the esophagus inside the **wrap**.

In the cases of excessively tight wraps after Nissen fundoplication surgeries, it was required/needed/necessary to perform hydrostatic balloon dilatation.

или, скажем, "...we were required to perform hydrostatic balloon dilatation"

--------------------------------------------------
