При постановке самовсплывающих станций за 500 метров до точки судно сбрасывает ход до 3 узлов, за 150 м дается команда на подготовку станции. Станция выводится на специальном сбрасывающем устройстве за корму. В момент прохождения над проектной точкой, по команде вахтенного геодезиста станция сбрасывается.
