Buena idea. Ya he contado mi historia con "transversal", pero tengo que decir que desde hace 2-3 años tengo que oir y ver "factoria" en vez de "fabrica" y "escuchantes" en vez de "oyentes" (en el País, Radio España, etc.) todos los días. Me suenan fatal, pero es claro que los medios han adoptado estos anglicismos hasta dejar de usar lo que yo aprendí como el buen castellano. Puede estar pasando igual con "tranversal".

@mediamatrix Más allá de lo que use un documento concreto de la ONU, estoy de acuerdo contigo en que parecen ser sinónimos, y que el siguiente documento perfectamente podría haber usado el otro término. Ya Mónica verá qué le encaja mejor con su traducción. Ahora sí que me voy a cocinar. Chau.

Googling, I found "cross-cutting issues" too. The problem here is knowing if it is issues, themes, disciplines, or something else that is being referred to in chapter 4.

There have been some other Kudoz discussions around "tranversal" and I have to admit that without giving the translation due thought and having found the literal translation abundantly used in Internet, I offered the literal translation and later withdrew my answer. Was I wrong to withdraw my answer? Is "transversality" becoming an accepted term instead of a bad literal translation? You can go the "ask the client" route, or look hard at what is being offered in chapter 4 (if you have access to the text) and tailor the cross + a word (subject) based on what chapter 4 contains, whether it is themes, disciplines (usually used in education), etc. "Transversal" is definitely an adjective here and the translation of "eje" depends on what is being discussed. If you can give us a better idea of chapter 4 we could give more help.

Sorry, Henry. Here is some more context. El presente documento se estructura en seis capítulos. El segundo, que sigue a esta introducción, presenta una breve descripción de la historia del proceso DaO en Uruguay. En el capítulo tercero, se exponen los resultados preliminares de la evaluación de esta experiencia, en relación al logro de los objetivos de coherencia y apropiación nacional de la cooperación para el desarrollo, identificando los avances y restricciones en el marco de cada uno de los pilares que componen la iniciativa DaO. El avance en la incorporación programática de los * ejes transversales * se expone en el capitulo cuatro. A continuación, en el capítulo cinco, se presentan las conclusiones generales de la evaluación. Finalmente en el sexto capítulo se esbozan un conjunto de recomendaciones.

These are not different themes, these are points of view from different directions/angles of study the possible outcomes of the actions taken.

trivia: "axes" here isn't pronounced the same as the plural of "axe", and that fact helps to keep the words distinct from one another. "Axes" here is a Latin plural and is pronounce like "axe ease". The plural of "axe" is pronounced like "axe is".
