Spanish term

SNDM

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Medical Abbreviations, Medical Imaging
These initials follow the Doctor's name and title on a complete abdominal tomography report. I don't know what country it's from.

Dra. Fulana, Radiologo - SNDM -

The only thing I've been able to find is Sobre Nivel Del Mar and I'm pretty sure that's not the right translation.

Thanks for your help and any guidance to locating medical abbreviations in Spanish.
Proposed translations (English)
1 -2 Special Needs doctor of Dental Medicine

Teressa Weaver (asker) Aug 20, 2012:
Typos in Guatemala On page 365 of the Memoria detallado de la Nación 2009 I found a reference to the Sistema Nacional de Resonancia Magnetica. http://www.jgm.gov.ar/archivos/MemoriaDetallada/memoria_deta...
You might notice that we have moved from Argentina to Guatemala -- I finally got a nation of origin for the documents.
I didn't consider a typo because the title appeared on 2 reports. Next time I'll think about that.
Thanks for your help.
MedPharm Aug 20, 2012:
It makes sense. Bear in mind that mistakes can happen all along the medical transcription process.
I am not saying that they are numerous. Sometimes it is just a slip of the mind at some stage. Double-checking is always worth doing as in this case.
Joseph Tein Aug 20, 2012:
Maybe SNDM was a typo? Found this, which clearly shows SNRM = Sistema Nacional de Resonancia Magnetica, from Argentina.

Teressa Weaver (asker) Aug 20, 2012:
I posted the answer below in Fletcher's response. It is " "-Sistema Nacional de Resonancia Magnética (SNDM). Se formó una comisión de trabajo para la creación de este sistema. El propósito es optimizar el funcionamiento de los grandes equipamientos de resonancia magnética nuclear y electrónica, instalados en instituciones del sistema académico y científico argentino. -Sistema de Datos del Mar (SNDM)." at this website: http://www.mincyt.gov.ar/ministerio/informes/pdf/Anexo_infor... The initials don't really make a lot of sense to me; why not SNRM? What do you all think?"
Joseph Tein Aug 19, 2012:
And the answer is? Teressa, since you say you found the answer somewhere else, it would be really good and helpful to post it here so that future translators who might run into this abbreviation can be helped by this question.
Teressa Weaver (asker) Aug 9, 2012:
I have no indication of where the document originated. However, it is entirely in Spanish so I suspect that it is not from California.
MedPharm Aug 9, 2012:
Is the document from California?
Teressa Weaver (asker) Aug 9, 2012:
Good idea, MedPharm. I'll check that, but I think it's more like a title as in Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) or Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP)
MedPharm Aug 9, 2012:
Please check...... that the name of the Department has not been coded as an acronym or there is a number close to it.
If this belongs to the Heading of the document or is placed at the end after description and diagnosis might also point in the right direction.

Special Needs doctor of Dental Medicine

Special Needs doctor of Dental Medicine- this is just something I found out there

At least the Special Needs sounds about right.
Peer comment(s):

disagree MedPharm : No

disagree Joseph Tein : Clearly when the context is abdominal tomography, and the physician is a radiologist, the abbreviation will have nothing to do with dentistry.

Note from asker:
Well, I've contacted www.snm.org to see if they have any ideas. At least we're on the right track, I think.
I found this today: "-Sistema Nacional de Resonancia Magnética (SNDM). Se formó una comisión de trabajo para la creación de este sistema.
