Review of a pianist's CD

audio quality
"toma sonora" means the sound recording or take, but I think audio quality would work better in your sentence.

the audio quality is fairly well balanced in volume and consistently clean

The audio quality of the recording is just a bit more resonant and swimmy than my ideal but still quite excellent

(sound) take /recording
It is referring to the particular recording session but I think just recording would be fine for a non-technical audience. "sound take" in: Diccionario politécnico de las lenguas española e inglesa: Inglés-español

Altogringo
: go with recording. toma sonora is just a fancy way of saying that. The focus of the text is on the aesthetic qualities of music, not the technical, for me.

Cheers and thanks, Alto Gringo. I think you're right. In any case, Lisa has three valid answers to choose from.

sound quality
A variation. Less fancy/technical, fits better in sentence imho.

As far as what it is, I don't know. Tough to say with the given (little) context.
