"Golpe de timón" is change of direction. The Spanish is saying the "ship" (i.e. company/business) needs to be saved from "sinking", hence my "going under" in English.
You could actually keep the ship image in English as well. Something like "A change of direction is needed to steady the ship/right the ship".
